GreenTech Forum Brussels 2024: for its first edition, The Wokies partners with ISIT-BE

Building on the success of its Paris counterpart, the GreenTech Forum Brussels is a new professional event dedicated to Tech and Sustainability, held on June 18 and 19, 2024. It brings together nearly 750 participants in Brussels who are committed to green IT! For the event, The Wokies and ISIT-BE (Belgian Institute for Sustainable IT), the association co-organizing the forum, are forming a partnership and announcing joint actions to speed up awareness among digital professionals of what is at stake in more sustainable tech.

Responsible digital and awareness: a partnership to make the topic mainstream in Europe.

The Belgian Institute for Sustainable IT is a think and do tank based on the model of the French INR (Institut du Numérique Responsable) and was founded in 2020. The goal of this association is to bring together Belgian companies, organizations and citizens to support them in their digital transition while reducing the environmental and social footprint of their IT services and uses. ISIT mainly works on 3 key digital issues, which are:

1. Reducing the environmental, social and economic footprint of digital technology.
2. The ability of digital technology to reduce the negative impact of humans on the environment and to solve societal and economic problems.
3. Creating lasting value and increasing responsible innovation through digital technology.

Beyond having a positive impact on responsible digital, ISIT-BE strives to work on these issues at the European level. To do so, everything is carefully thought out, including the location of the events ISIT puts on. For example, the smart choice to co-organize this edition of the GreenTech Forum in Brussels, home of the European Parliament, puts ISIT at the heart of European policy decisions on technological progress. As the European stakes keep growing, holding this edition in the capital of the European Union extends the dialogue around digital technology. This choice allows ISIT to bring together the major players to discuss resource issues (rare earths, water, energy...), digital sovereignty and societal expectations.

We are happy to have been recognized by ISIT as an expert awareness partner. As of now, our green IT awareness serious escape game is listed in ISIT's catalog of training and awareness workshops. This partnership highlights our expertise in raising awareness among company employees and local government staff at the European level. At The Wokies, we are deeply convinced that collective awareness is how we will move toward more responsible digital technology.
