Born remote,
now indispensable

In 2020, we invented a collaborative escape game where every player is essential. Since then, our clients have guided us towards each new format and each chapter of our story: awareness training, on-site games, then solo play.

Manifesto

Play as a serious tool

We believe the best team moments (the ones that last, bring people together and genuinely change something in an organization) happen when every employee becomes essential to the group.

Since 2020, we have designed escape games and serious games that put play to work on real challenges: cohesion across multi-site teams, welcoming new starters, and awareness of cybersecurity or CSR. Always playful. Never a gimmick.

Spring 2020

It all started with drinks on Zoom

Spring 2020, the first lockdown. Like everyone else, Hélène goes from one Zoom drinks to the next, and always notices the same thing: out of fifteen people, one or two do the talking. The others listen, microphones muted.

One question stays with her: how can everyone get a voice again, even at a distance? Her idea: a game where each player sees a different screen and holds clues the others don’t have. Nobody can just sit back and watch.

Six years,
1,000 events,
one obsession

Not a founders’ story. A story carried by the thousands of teams who played, and by the clients who came back to us. Here is what they shaped.

  1. Two team members in costume during one of the first video sessions.

    2020 : Born in lockdown

April 2020. Teams are scattered and corporate events are collapsing. We design a radically new format: a 100% online escape game where each player has different clues. Team cohesion becomes possible again, remotely.

  2. A grid of smiling participants on a video call.

2021 : Our first major accounts

Sodexo, Schneider Electric and BNP Paribas trust us with their hybrid offsites. The game works just as well for 4 people as for 200. The feedback is unexpected: teams are still talking about these sessions weeks later. Today, more than 50% of the CAC 40 trust us.

  3. A participant on a video call during a responsible digital awareness game.

2022 : The serious game as a method

After the lockdowns, our clients want to go further. BPCE Group is the first to raise its teams’ awareness of responsible digital through play. Cybersecurity, disability in the workplace and sustainable mobility soon follow.

  4. 2023 : Onboarding at scale

Sopra Steria makes our game a highlight of its onboarding program: more than 3,000 new starters in 18 months, with sessions of more than 250 participants.

  5. A team playing on site around a table, with tablets and clues.

2024 : Half of the CAC 40 has played

Tablets, a case full of clues and Game Masters on site: the game goes in person to reach every team. Escape Game en Ligne becomes The Wokies (because we love woks! Yum 😋).

  6. The Mission Grelot Christmas adventure setting: a cosy living room with a Christmas tree.

2025 : Formats to suit you!

Solo formats to play whenever you like: mini-games and Mission Grelot, a Christmas adventure in 4 chapters.

The game itself,
not the decoration

This is what makes a The Wokies format recognizable, and why major companies come back to us year after year. Three things we never compromise on.

  • 01. Mechanics

    Everyone is essential

Each player gets a unique screen and unique clues. Nobody can solve the puzzle alone. The format naturally encourages listening, speaking up and delegating, without us ever spelling it out.

  • 02. DNA

    Fun first. Always.

We laugh, we search, we get stuck, we find the answer. The seriousness of the topic (cyber, CSR, onboarding) never gets in the way of the fun. If the team isn’t enjoying itself, the message doesn’t land. That is why we exist.

  • 03. Scale

    Proven at every size

From 8 to 500 employees at the same time online (more on request). Multi-site, multi-time zone, multilingual. Our platform was built to scale without losing the closeness of each small team.

Still have a question?
We’ll tell you everything!

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about organizing, running and pricing our online escape games for businesses.

  • Who is behind Escape Game en Ligne?

Two entrepreneurs, Hélène and Clément. Hélène is the creative brain: she imagines the scenarios and visual worlds, drawing on long experience of escape rooms and puzzle game design. Clément takes care of the technical side, so everyone can play remotely without a hitch. Around them, a team of Game Masters hosts sessions in French and English and supports your teams during the game.

  • What is the difference between The Wokies and Escape Game en Ligne?

They are the same company. Escape Game en Ligne is the original name, born with our first video games, and it is still the name of the website and the brand many clients know. The Wokies is the name of the company that now designs and hosts all our formats: team building escape games, awareness serious games, online and on site, and end-of-year games.

  • How long have you been running escape games for businesses?

Since 2020. The idea came about during the first lockdown, after noticing that on video drinks, only one or two people did the talking. We designed a game where each participant sees a different screen and holds unique clues. Since then, our clients have led us towards awareness training, on-site games and then solo formats you play at your own pace.

  • Which companies have trusted you?

More than 350 companies and more than 50,000 employees have already played our formats. They include Sodexo, Schneider Electric, BNP Paribas, BPCE, Crédit Agricole, Sopra Steria, CGI, Salesforce, Klaxoon, Worldline, Lesaffre, OPCO Mobilités, Converteo and Shine. They range from large groups to mid-sized companies, in banking, consulting, industry, services and tech.

  • How do participants rate the experience?

Every session ends with an evaluation. Our team building missions have an average rating of 4.73/5. For awareness training, the average activity rating is 4.86/5 and the average learning rating is 4.37/5. We use this feedback, collected session after session, to improve our scenarios and our hosting.

  • Where do you work?

Online, everywhere: your teams can play from any country, in French or English. On site, our Game Masters come to your offices or your offsite venue, with the tablets and cases of clues needed for the game.

  • Who designs the content of the awareness serious games?

Our awareness scenarios draw on publications from leading bodies for each topic (for example ANSSI, the French national cybersecurity agency, and CNIL, the French data protection authority, for cybersecurity; Agefiph for disability; ADEME, the French ecological transition agency, for the environment), cited on each topic page. Our team designs the game mechanics so that every puzzle gets a precise, useful message across for everyday work.
