This week is the European Responsible Digital Week (Semaine Européenne du Numérique Responsable, SENR) in Strasbourg. This event is organized by the Eurométropole de Strasbourg at the Shadok, all week long, to raise awareness of digital issues.

The Wokies is proud to be a partner of the event and to run two awareness sessions of its responsible digital serious escape game! The first is for local government staff, the second for citizens, to help them understand the environmental impact of digital technology and adopt good habits.

This year, the festival asks local government staff and the general public: "Is it responsible not to question digital technology?"

The goal of the European Responsible Digital Week is to let citizens learn more about digital issues and to affirm the commitments of the City of Strasbourg and the Eurométropole on 3 areas:

  • Digital Sobriety: for digital technology that is more responsible toward the environment.
  • Digital Solidarity: for digital technology that is more supportive between the residents of the Eurométropole and their local authority.
  • Digital Freedom: for digital technology that protects the rights of its users.

Through the various talks and workshops, the ambition is to make people aware of unequal access and personal data disclosure problems, so they understand the risks caused by inappropriate digital use.

Here is a summary of the program:

Monday, June 17

This day will focus on digital education in the Eurométropole area. Elected officials, nonprofit groups and professionals will discuss the digital issues facing young people in the area.

Tuesday, June 18

A day of awareness and training in responsible digital, dedicated to local government staff.

4 days open to the general public:

Wednesday, June 19

A day in my digital life: e-commute, e-work, e-sleep (or not)

This day is dedicated to the impact of digital technology on daily life.

After a welcome coffee and a launch talk, several workshops and talks are planned, including on digital sobriety, eco-friendly habits and cybersecurity. An escape game run by The Wokies is also planned to raise awareness of digital issues. The day will end with a short theater play and a discussion on everyday digital use.

Thursday, June 20

Digital dependence: what about freedom?

This day is dedicated to thinking about our dependence on digital technology, in both personal and professional life.

After a welcome coffee, several workshops, talks and debates are planned on online privacy, eco-design of websites and the impact of big digital companies. Note the screening of the documentary "Nothing to Hide" and access to a digital stress simulator. The day ends with debates and discussions on cyber-addiction and screen dependence.

Friday, June 21

A small step into AI, a giant leap into the debate

This day is dedicated to exploring artificial intelligence and its applications.
The welcome coffee will be followed by a series of talks, workshops and presentations on AI, including discussions on its regulation and its role in fields such as education and music. AI pitches are spread throughout the day, along with a job dating event with Strasbourg's digital department. The day will end with a round table on the implications of AI and a closing session.

Saturday, June 22

Events by our partner La CyberGrange

Organized by La CyberGrange as part of the European Responsible Digital Week, this day offers various activities around responsible digital, digital solidarity and ecology. From 2 pm to 6 pm, at the Shadok, participants can explore workshops such as discovering computer components, repairing a PC yourself, installing Linux and electronics tinkering. A parents' café is also available to discuss the challenges of digital parenting. The day will end with a round table on planned obsolescence and the screening of the short film "La Mécanique des Fluides".

It promises to be an intense week for The Wokies, since we are also a partner of the GreenTech Forum Brussels, which takes place at the same time! (June 18 and 19).
