Every year in March, the Digital Cleanup Day takes place. This worldwide event helps companies get their employees involved in concrete responsible digital (green IT) action. Caisse d’Epargne Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes, a bank at the forefront of the environmental transition, takes part every year. In 2024, its Internal Audit Department wanted to go beyond simply joining a big digital data cleanup, and organized a session of the Responsible Digital Serious Game.

The Wokies went to meet the employees of Caisse d’Epargne Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes, who shared their feedback (translated from French): "This original and fun experience let participants dive into a brand-new format (an ONLINE escape game!) to tackle an important topic. The group dynamic encouraged interaction and sharing of experiences. The cherry on the cake: the Wokies hosts stepped in at the end of each exercise to add a touch of humor and friendliness. Participants enjoyed the escape game format, which created a collective spirit with a competition between teams. This moment strengthened team cohesion and a spirit of mutual help in solving the games. Participants also became aware of the impact of our actions on the environment, of the constraints of producing digital devices and storing data, and of the importance of putting good practices in place to reduce their carbon footprint."

On the organizer's side, the feedback is just as positive: “We found the idea relevant and liked the novelty effect that won over employees. The escape game format, the teamwork and the playful side are the strong points of this experience. Employees remembered some striking figures on the CO2 impact of digital technology.

To go further and make the awareness last, we thought it was important to go back over what had been shared in a summary recap, to anchor the learning that began during the Serious Game and to respond to participants' questions. It was a perfect activity to close the session.

In conclusion, the serious escape game on responsible digital was a success. It let participants dive into an original and fun format to tackle an important topic. We hope to repeat the experience and offer this activity to other employees.”
